Racing around the world for a better home, the Earthrace boat came to Vancouver and made a spash across the local papers. The boat which is running on biodeisel is the brainchild of an ex-oil man, Pete Bethune. Not only is he captain but also CEO. I didn't know a boat could have a CEO, but OK. I guess this just isn't any other boat.

Clearly not. When I heard that this thing had docked down at Granville Island, I suggested to Michael that we go down and take a look. There we are getting coffee, me with camera in hand, casually wondering where it could be when out of no where this monlithic creature of the sea smoothly glides into view. I think 'hideaous monstrocity' was the phrase Michael used.

While it's a lovely idea to race around the world trying to raise awareness for alternative fuel sources, it's even more interesting to do it in a boat that looks like something out of a comic book replete with tribal designs.
